Here we go, a matchup between Titans… sort of. The BoSox are second to the Orioles in the AL East and looking to break through while the Giants are steamrolling over the NL West as they continue their solid season, who will win in this matchup? Nobody knows (based off our recent play, probably the Giants). On the bright side the worst case scenario is we lose two games, because this is a two game series so I guess we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.
Rick Porcello (7-2, 4.00 ERA, 69.2 IP, 62Ks) vs Albert Suarez (1-1, 3.18 ERA, 17 IP, 10Ks)
I don’t know much about Suarez other than that he’s been solid this season since being called up and Porcello has straight up sucked lately. Not a good combo for the BoSox as they hope to turn their recent slide around. Porcello has been on a streak of, well, not success as he seems to be regressing to his 2015 form. It would be nice if he could turn things around and reel off a gem, but it’d also be nice if I could wake up tomorrow and be 6’2″.
David Price (7-2, 4.88 ERA, 75.2 IP, 84Ks) vs Madison Bumgarner (7-2, 1.91 ERA, 80 IP, 90Ks)
While I could make fun of Bumgarner’s name, it won’t do us any good. He can pitch and hit as evidenced by his line and penchant for home runs. Meanwhile Price has been solid-ish as he continues to distance himself from his horrid start while not exactly flashing any signs of dominance. Could be a rough one.
Who’s Hot and Who’s Not
- Chris Young, of all people, is batting .438 in the past week–who knew.
- Dustin Pedroia is 10 for his last 26, woot woot!
- Mookie Betts is hitting .375 in his past six games, finally producing at the top of the order.
- And David Ortiz is hitting .364 over the past week as he is on a tear.
- Literally everyone else. Literally.
I’ll make it quick and easy: we get swept.
