Ortiz trailing Cruz

In the latest update in All-Star voting, Red Sox hitting extraordinaire David Ortiz still trails upstart Nelson Cruz in votes. The gap between the two has broadened considerably as Ortiz now trails Cruz by nearly 500,000 votes.

The two power hitters are off to a great start this season as Ortiz has smashed 15 home runs and has driven in 42 runs this season despite a dip in his batting average. Cruz, on the other hand, has made the case as the best power hitter in the American League presently. His 21 home runs and 16 RBIs lead all American League hitters.

Ortiz needs many more votes and more support from Red Sox fans and supporters if he is to have a chance at eclipsing Cruz in All Star voting but the window for doing so is quickly closing shut. It’s not as if Cruz doesn’t deserve the honor, however, as he has been incredible this season.

So Sox fans what are you waiting for? Vote for Big Papi now so he can rep our favorite starting nine in the All Star Game!
